Chicago DUI Lawyers Reveal Double Standard When DA Arrested For DUI
Our Chicago DUI Lawyers found this interesting story about Randy Saavedra, the director of the administrative office of New Mexico’s district attorneys association. It appears that Mr. Saavedra, who by the way, has received dozens of traffic citations in the last 20 years, and had been cited 36 times since 1989 but has never paid a fine or received a jail sentence, was stopped for suspicion of DUI.
Saaverda was given a Breathalyzer exam that reveled his BAC to be .08 – legally intoxicated – until someone decided that the machine must be broke. When given a second Breathalyzer exam, Saaverda’s BAC was only .07. Our Chicago DUI Attorneys have NEVER heard of anyone getting a second crack at a failed Breathalyzer exam. We guess it pays to be friends with the DA’s office. Full story follows below.

Chicago DUI Lawyers Report: BAAID Devices Send DUI Drivers Back To Jail
Been arrested for a DUI in Chicago? You’re not alone. However, the choices you make from here on out, especially your choice of Chicago DUI Lawyers, can greatly impact the outcome of your case. For example, did you know that persons arrested on DUI charges on or after January 1, 2009, who wish to still drive, may only apply for a Monitoring Device Driving Permit (MDDP)?
The MDDP requires defendants to only drive cars on which a breath alcohol ignition interlock device (BAIID) is installed. The driver must provide a breath sample into the BAIID prior to starting the vehicle and at random intervals throughout his or her trip. The BAIID uses advanced technology to read the driver’s blood alcohol content (BAC). Unless you choose to fight your Statutory Summary Suspension, you must blow into this device each and every time that you start your car!
Many clients often ask our Chicago DUI Lawyers “Why fight the DUI charges if I can get a breath device and still use my car”? The reason is that these breath devices (BAIID) will monitor your alcohol content each and every time that you use them. What happens if you are found to have alcohol in your system, even if you are not legally intoxicated? Ask Jim Leyritz. Former major leaguer Jim Leyritz was arrested and jailed after a judge revoked his bond for violating his release by having alcohol in his system – alcohol detected by his BAIID device!

Chicago DUI Lawyers Examine Police Misconduct During DUI Arrests
Think that once arrested for DUI that you can’t fight back? Think that the police are untouchable? Not so say our Chicago DUI Attorneys. In the news today was a Florida case in which an officer, who had made hundreds of DUI arrests, now faces legal action for ignoring sheriff’s office procedures for making arrests and for turning in DUI reports. Here the link to the complete story: Fired Deputy, Hillsborough Sheriff Sued Over DUI Arrest.
This story reminded our Chicago DUI Lawyers of another disgraced Officer, Chicago Police Officer John Haleas, who was also honored for the number of DUI arrests that he made – until it was discovered he was making up false reports to help convict people of DUI. That story can be found here: 50 DUI cases dropped over cop’s improper procedure.
These stories illustrate the need for people who have been arrested for DUI to retain aggressive DUI lawyers who will fight for your rights, and not someone who charges you a couple of hundred bucks to plea you guilty.
