Chicago DUI Checkpoint Set For May 22nd
Our Chicago DUI Attorneys have learned about another DUI checkpoint set up for this weekend.
The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the South Chicago (004) District at 9100 S Stony Island. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009 and end at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009.
During roadside checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations.

DUI Checkpoint Set For Friday, May 15th in Gresham
Our DUI Lawyers have learned that the Chicago Police Department will conduct a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Gresham (006th) District beginning at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2009 and ending at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009.

DUI Alleged In Two Fatal Car Accidents

Naperville Leads Local Communities In DUI Arrests
A survey was released yesterday ranking the total number of DUI arrests for the various communities around Chicago. According to the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists’ 2006 survey, Naperville led the pack with the most arrests of intoxicated motorists.

Pushing Back Against The Hyper-Criminalization of DUI
Recently, the Colorado Springs Gazette published an interesting editorial regarding the increasing criminalization of those arrested for DUI. This editorial, along with other editorials regarding MADD’s CEO, Chuck Hurley appointment to the NHTSA, shows a growing push back against what has become the hyper-criminalization of DUI offenders.

Minnesota Supreme Court Ruling Puts Thousands of DUI Cases In Jeopardy
Our Chicago DUI Lawyers have been following an interesting case out of Minnesota that has made it all the way up to the Supreme Court of that state. Earlier this month, Minnesota’s highest court ruled that defendants in drunken-driving cases have the right to make prosecutors turn over the computer “source code” that runs the Intoxilyzer breath-testing device to determine whether the device’s results are reliable. As a result, Minnesota may be forced to drop thousands of driving under the influence cases
But there’s a problem: Prosecutors can’t turn over the code because they don’t have it. The ruling could have a far reaching impact on cases all across the United States

Over the city’s objections, a judge Monday agreed to examine in chambers the personnel files of two Chico, CA police officers involved in hundreds of recent DUI arrests.
