New charges of driving under the influence has prompted the state’s attorney to ask a judge to either revoke or increase a Geneva man’s bond today.
Mark J. Peterson, 52, of the 300 block of Woodward Avenue., was charged in St. Charles June 14, 2008 with drunken driving and unlawful use of a weapon.

Texting More Dangerous Than DUI
Where’s MADD when we really need them? In a study that shouldn’t surprise many, Car & Driver magazine reveled that texting and/or reading e-mails on today’s smartphones caused reaction time behind the wheel to be far worse than driving while under the influence of alcohol. Of course DUI is punishable by jail time, while using a phone while driving carries a penalty of $100 fine, and is even legal in some States!
Texting Could Be More Dangerous Than Drunken Driving
The NBC’s “Today” show featured a story on how driving while texting could be more dangerous than driving while under the influence of alcohol. Car & Driver has developed a test to measure the difference in reaction times when driving while reading an email, actively texting and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08, the legal limit. The test takes place on an abandoned air strip.
Woman Arrested For DUI 4 Times In 3 Weeks
Our DUI Attorneys have learned that a Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving four times within three weeks, at least once right after dropping her children off at school and another time with her 4-year-old son in the car, according to court records.
Woman, 27, drove drunk four times in three weeks, records show
Waukesha — Nicole M. Bailey, 27, is being held in the Waukesha County Jail on $20,000 bail.
Bailey was convicted of her first offense of drunken driving in Milwaukee on May 26. She was arrested for that offense on April 25.
At the time of her arrest in Milwaukee, Bailey had two pending drunken-driving cases stemming from arrests in Menomonee Falls, on April 18 and April 20. She was arrested a third time in Menomonee Falls on May 8.

Murder Charge Overturned in DUI Case
Our DUI Attorneys have learned that the Illinois Appellate Court has reversed the felony murder conviction of Michael Schmidt. Schmidt, who police said was drunk and fleeing from police in a stolen SUV prior to his arrest, killed a 6-year old boy when he slammed into a family crossing a North Side street.
Murder charge overturned in DUI case
Michael Schmidt, now 27, had been drinking with two friends from a gallon of vodka on Oct. 12, 2004 before he invited them to take a ride in a stolen black Lexus SUV, according to testimony in his trial.

DUI Barstool Inventor Seeks Profit
Remember the story of Kile Wygle, the man arrested for DUI on a barstool? Turns out that the story isn’t quite over yet. The Licking County (Ohio) Child Support Enforcement Agency filed a court petition after hearing an entertainment company was interested in buying the unusual vehicle. A judge agreed that if Wygle makes any profit from the stool, it should go toward back child support. Court records show he owes $37,000.

Drunk driving punishable by special license plates singling out offenders? Sound crazy? Well it might surprise you that the State of Ohio has been issuing special license plates to those convicted of drunk driving for years. The result? An increase in the amount of alcohol related fatalities.
