DUI Arrests Increase For Women
Our DUI Attorneys have learned of an alarming new trend in drunk driving arrests; an increase in the number of women arrested for drunk driving.
Number Of Women Arrested For Drunk Driving Has Jumped 30 Percent In Past Decade
WASHINGTON — The number of women arrested for drunken driving has jumped nearly 30 percent in the past decade, a dangerous trend that was all too evident when a wrong-way crash involving a woman in New York killed eight people.
The Transportation Department said the number of women arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs increased 28.8 percent between 1998 and 2007. The number of men arrested under the influence fell 7.5 percent during the same period.
DUI Boaters Pose Problems In Illinois
Our Chicago DUI Lawyers want to remind everyone once again of the dangers of operating a boat while intoxicated.
Drunken Boaters Going From Bottle To Throttle
Drunk people operating boats can make Illinois lakes and rivers dangerous places. There have been three deaths this year and more than 1,000 arrests over the last five. Now there’s an effort to link the tickets boaters get on the water to their Illinois driving record.
2 DUIs In 2 Different Cars For Nebraska Woman
Our Illinois drunk driving defense attorneys have reported on multiple arrests for DUI in a single day in the past, but we’ve never seen something like this.
Nebraska police arrest woman twice in one night in two different cars for DUI
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Police arrested a woman twice in one night in two different cars for driving drunk. Police spokeswoman Katie Flood said the woman was pulled over at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday after she allegedly made an illegal turn and was spotted swerving down a south Lincoln street.
The officer who stopped her said her blood-alcohol level was .19. That’s more than twice the legal limit. The woman was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence and negligent driving and taken to a detoxification center.

DUI “No Refusal” Weekends In Jeopardy
Our DUI Lawyers have long rallied against the “No Refusal” weekends during which motorists are informed that they will be charged with felonies for drunk driving if they exercise their Constitutional right to refuse testing. (see Kane County “No Refusal” DUI Strike Force Back This Weekend and Felony DUI Results From Refusal During Kane County’s “No Refusal” Weekend.)
Finally it looks like common sense and the Constitution has prevailed.
Kane County drunken-driving crackdown may be in peril
2 police agencies won’t take part in ‘no-refusal’ program, prosecutor says
A drunken-driving crackdown in Kane County may be in jeopardy after two police agencies said they wouldn’t participate because of controversies associated with it, State’s Atty. John Barsanti said Tuesday.
Barsanti declined to name the two departments but said both had initially expressed interest in the “no-refusal” program, which targets suspected drunken drivers who decline to blow into a Breathalyzer. “The bottom line is we’re reaching out to all these various departments, and if they’re not interested, it’s not going to happen again,” he said.

DUI Cases Get Major Shake-Up
A drunk driving charge in Illinois is the only criminal charge in which the Defendant has no right to confront his accuser (the breathalyzer). However, a recent Supreme Court ruling may change all of that.
Bar raised in drug, DUI trials
Prosecutors say top court’s ruling on lab techs’ testimony will hinder cases
By David G. Savage | Tribune Newspapers
WASHINGTON – — Until last month, the strongest evidence in drug and drunken-driving cases in courtrooms across the United States often was a piece of paper. A crime lab or Breathalyzer report would confirm that the defendant indeed had illegal drugs or a high level of alcohol in his or her system.
But a U.S. Supreme Court decision has sent a jolt through that system.
Now the prosecution must make a lab technician available to testify in person if the defendant demands it. As a result, some cases have been dismissed. One state, Virginia, has called a special legislative session to change its laws. And some lawyers think the ruling will continue to have a major impact.
Cops Frame Woman For DUI
In the light of the lawsuits alleging false arrest filed against Chicago Cop Joe D. Parker, our Chicago Lawyers have often wondered – how easy is it to make up a drunk driving charge against someone? The following case from Florida shows us that it is not as hard or uncommon as you think for a police officer to falsify DUI charges against anyone.
By TODD WRIGHT
Alexandra Torrensvilas was the target of cops who pinned a DUI on her for an accident they caused. Now she has been cleared of charges after the Broward State Attorney’s Office officially dropped the four DUI citations on Wednesday.
But the saga is far from over as now prosecutors turn their attention to the four Hollywood police officers who made up an intricate story to cover for a February traffic accident involving a cop car. The scheme was caught on one of the officers dashboard cameras.
