Nurse Sues After Arrest – Refused To Take Blood From DUI Arrestee
Our Chicago DUI Lawyers have written numerous times in the past in regards to “No Refusal Weekends” and “Forced Blood Draws“. These practices have hijacked the 5th Amendment in the name of drunk driving arrest rates.
Now we see the latest incident to come from this idea that it is acceptable to have law enforcement sticking needles in your arm – a nurse was arrested by the Chicago Police when she refused to perform a forced blood draw.
Nurse sues Chicago cop who arrested her
An Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center nurse has filed a civil lawsuit against a Chicago police officer and the city of Chicago, claiming the officer arrested her for wanting to consult with a supervisor before collecting a blood sample from a suspected drunken driver.

MADD Introduces Non-Alcoholic Drink Line
MADD, the organization known best for its war on Drunk Driving, is now getting into the bar business – sort of. MADD is putting its name on a bevy of non-alcoholic drinks, including mojitos, margaritas, pina coladas, beer, and red, white and sparkling wines.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The advocacy group says it signed a license agreement with a Toronto-based marketing firm to produce the line of beverages, called MADD Virgin Drinks. They’ll be sold starting this fall, with some of the profits directed toward discouraging drunk driving.
They’re an alternative for people who want to serve drinks with “the great taste needed to make guests feel like they are part of the party — but without the alcohol,” said MADD’s national president, Laura Dean-Mooney.

Teacher arrested for driving drunk

Wisconsin To Beef Up DUI Laws
Our Chicago DUI Attorneys have been following the legislation going on in Madison, Wisconsin regarding Wisconsin’s drunk driving laws. From all reports, it appears that, although the law does get a little tougher on those convicted of DUI, fist time offenders will still only be given a traffic citation.
Wis. aims to get a bit tougher on drunken driving
MADISON, Wis. – Unlike the criminal penalties it can draw elsewhere, a first-time drunken driving offense in Wisconsin will still mean a mere traffic ticket under a proposal lawmakers have touted as getting tough on the issue.
The bill set to pass the state Assembly on Thursday strengthens other parts of the law, like making driving drunk a felony on a fourth offense instead of a fifth. But a first offense would be a crime only if someone under 16 is in the car. It usually means a fine of up to $300 and maybe a lecture from a judge.
“We want to see people deterred from driving drunk,” said Paul Jenkins of Mequon, whose pregnant stepdaughter and her 10-year-old daughter were killed last year by a repeat drunken driver. “This bill doesn’t do that.”
5th DUI For Nude Motorcyclist
As if having 4 prior drunk driving convictions wasn’t enough, a Flordia man decided to ride his motorcycle in the buff AND allegedly intoxicated when arrested early this morning.
OCALA – An alert Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted a nude motorcyclist driving near Interstate 75 and State Road 200 in Ocala early this morning.
“I thought the driver of the motorcycle was not wearing clothing,” said Capt. Moshoji “Mike” Rolls, who followed the silver motorcycle to investigate.
At about 12:30 a.m., the motorcycle driver, J. Dante Krauss, 45, headed north along I-75 and exited at Highway 40 in Ocala. When Krauss ran a red light, Rolls stopped him and confirmed that the man was not wearing clothes.
DUI Defendant Shows Up To Court Drunk
Our Illinois DUI Lawyers have seen some strange things happen in Court, but the following story tops them all.
‘Intoxicated’ man shows up at court for DUI charge
Not the best of ideas: A man due in court on a drunken-driving charge showed up this morning so intoxicated he urinated on himself.
Seth A. Chuck, 37, of Allentown was taken out of a Northampton County courtroom by three sheriff’s deputies, then brought back by one unhappy judge for a reckoning.
“Mr. Chuck comes in here today as intoxicated as anyone I’ve ever seen,” said Judge Paula Roscioli.
“That’s correct,” said Chuck, whose head rolled back and forth and who had trouble focusing his eyes.
DUI For Wheelchair Bound Man
Our Chicago Attorneys have reported on some unique drunk driving arrests in the past.
People have been arrested for DUIs while on a bar stool, a horse, and a riding mower and a golf cart
Adding to this list of strange and unique DUIs is the following story out of Milwaukee, WI:
