Bloomington Cop Charged With DUI Returns To Duty

April 15, 2009 (BLOOMINGTON, Ill.) — A Bloomington police officer placed on paid administrative leave after his arrest on DUI charges has been returned to duty.

However, Officer William McGonigle of Normal will not be driving a squad car.

Bloomington police spokesman Duane Moss said Tuesday that pending the outcome of the charges filed in McLean County Circuit Court and when McGonigle gets his license back, he will be assigned to duties such as desk duty, bike patrol or foot patrol.

McGonigle was stopped in Normal by an Illinois state trooper at 2:21 a.m. on Jan. 31. He was charged with speeding and DUI.
