Man charged with lawnmower DUI
GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla: A Green Cove Springs man hopped on his mower to pick up some gas, and wound up charged with DUI.
Damon Hayward found out that it’s still a DUI, even if you’re on a lawn mower. He had been drinking, and didn’t have a car because of a previous DUI.
His lawnmower is also his job. He was driving the mower to the nearby gas station to fill up for the next day’s jobs. It was after dark and his headlights weren’t on, so police pulled him over. “I enjoy doing lawns, I enjoy trying to help out people, do the best I can,” Hayward says.
Hayward says he knows he was wrong, and that he’ll learn from his mistake. He hopes others learn from it as well.
