DUI Charges For Man Who Rear-Ends Chicago Police Car
When reviewing an arrest for DUI, our Attorneys generally start by asking our clients “Why did the officer pull you over”. The police must have a clear and articulate reason for initiating a traffic stop; otherwise any evidence that comes from that stop may get thrown out of Court. Today our Chicago DUI Lawyers came across a story that demonstrates one scenario that even the best DUI Attorney would have trouble with defending: a man rear-ended a Chicago police car while allegedly DUI.

DUI charges after vehicle rear-ends unmarked squad car
Chicago Tribune staff report
April 27, 2009
A man was charged with drunken driving Saturday night after his vehicle rear-ended an unmarked Chicago police squad car with two officers inside in the Albany Park neighborhood, authorities said.
About 8:10 p.m., Stefan Gherguta was driving a 1995 Nissan Altima west in the 3800 block of Lawrence Avenue when it struck the stopped squad car, Officer Amina Greer said.
Gherguta, 33, of Chicago declined medical attention and was cited with DUI, she said. The two officers were treated at hospitals and released, Greer said.
