DUI Driver Loses Wheel Keeps Driving
Our DUI Attorneys found this odd story out of Cedar Lake. According to Police accounts, a man was reportedly so intoxicated he did not realize he struck a pole and lost the wheel to his truck as he was traveling along East Commercial Avenue.
Driver hits pole, loses wheel, keeps driving
A Lowell police officer was following the truck about 12:25 a.m. Saturday when he noticed the vehicle moving erratically. The officer said the red Dodge Ram pickup driven by William Lee Barber, 22, crossed left of center, then came back into the lane and proceeded to drive off the road and strike a utility pole.
When the truck struck the pole, a wheel came off causing sparks to fly as the driver proceeded along the road. Barber was charged with operating while intoxicated and failure of duty for leaving the scene of an accident. His blood-alcohol level from a portable breath test was 0.132 percent.
