SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — A defense attorney has entered pleas of not guilty on behalf of a Southern California man charged with killing Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two others in a drunken-driving crash.
Defendant Andrew Thomas Gallo watched Monday as attorney Randall Longwith entered the pleas in Orange County Superior Court.
The 22-year-old Gallo is charged with three counts of murder and other felonies in the April 9 crash.
Police have said Gallo had nearly triple the legal blood-alcohol level when his minivan ran a red light and crashed into a car carrying Adenhart and three others.
Adenhart died hours after he pitched six scoreless innings in his season debut.
Two others also were killed and a third was critically injured.
