More SuperBowl Safety From Our Chicago DUI Attorneys: Ways to Stay Safe on Gameday
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is calling upon all NFL fans. They want you to remember that the most important player off the field this SuperBowl weekend is the designated driver. Due to upsetting statistics over the past few years, MADD is stressing the importance of having a safe, responsible driver throughout the weekend.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, around the time of 2007’s SuperBowl, 67 people were killed in traffic accidents due to the vehicle operator having a blood alcohol concentration that was at or above the legal limit (.08).
Laura Dean-Mooney, president of MADD, says “We want to make sure fans aren’t throwing a Hail Mary when it comes to getting home safely. Plan ahead and designate a sober driver to ensure your team arrives home safe and sound.”
The safety of yourself and others is clearly the priority behind appointing a designated driver on America’s biggest football game of the year, but don’t forget that a DUI is worth avoiding, too. If you are pulled over by the increased patrols on Sunday, contact our Chicago DUI attorneys for the next step in defending yourself.
Here’s an idea! To make sure that your loved one gets home safe this season, get them a Home Safe Card. The card is prepaid and can be used to pay any transportation service that accepts Discover Network Cards. Every time a MADD-affiliated Home Safe Card is purchased, a portion of the sale will be donated to MADD.
