Second DUI For Former Congressman
Once again our Chicago DUI lawyers find another lawmaker arrested for DUI. This time it is Former New York State North Country Rep. John Sweeney. Sweeny was arrested last week and was alleged to be driving under the influence and speeding at the time of his arrest. This marks the second DUI for Sweeney.

Former Congressman Charged With DUI
Charges Mark New Yorker’s Second DUI Arrest
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Former North Country Rep. John Sweeney was arrested early Sunday morning on DUI charges.
Police in Clifton Park said Sweeney refused a sobriety test, so he was arrested on a felony driving while intoxicated charge.
State police stopped Sweeney, 53, for speeding around 3:30 a.m. Sunday on Route 9 in Clifton Park. He posted bail and was released. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 9.
The charge marks Sweeney’s second drunken driving arrest. He pleaded guilty to DUI in November 2007.
Sweeney, a Republican, represented the 20th District before losing to now U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in 2006.
