Two DUI arrests in one afternoon, for Milford woman

TOWN OF BETHEL, NY – New York State troopers responded to a 911 poll for a suspicious vehicle on State Rte 55 in the Town of Bethel, Saturday afternoon.   As the responding trooper approached the area he observed Heather Almodoval, 38 of Milford, PA exposing herself, possibly urinating along the roadway.   Almodoval was charged with DUI, exposure of a person and refusal to take a breath screening test.  She took a breath test at the station which registered .17 BAC (more than twice the legal limit), was arraigned and committed to the Sullivan County jail in lieu of $1000 bail.

Later, at about 7:30 pm troopers responded to a report of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on State Rte 17 in the Town of Thompson.  It took three police vehicles to stop the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer in a short pursuit that lasted three to four minutes at speeds of 40 miles per hour.   Once the vehicle was stopped it was discovered that Almodoval was the operator.  Almodoval had apparently bailed herself out of the Sullivan County Jail using a credit card and taken a taxi.  She located her vehicle, which after the earlier arrest had been turned over to a family member, and allegedly consumed more alcohol before attempting to drive her vehicle on State Rte 17.

Almodoval was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless endangerment, fleeing a police officer and numerous traffic violations.  The BAC in the second arrest was .24 (three times the legal limit).

She was arraigned and committed to the Sullivan Co jail in lieu of no bail to reappear at a later date.
