Aurora man charged with DUI, assault

John R. Boland, 39, of the 200 block of West New York Street in Aurora was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated DUI, driving while license revoked, resisting arrest, obstructing police and numerous traffic charges after he was pulled over just after midnight Aug. 31 at Hoyt and Harrison Avenues, according to police.

Boland refused to be taken into custody after leading police on a short chase that began at View Street and West Park Avenue. After he broke free from an officer and ran away, he was caught in the 500 block of North Harrison Avenue, where he resisted arrest and fought with the officer, according to police.
