Our Chicago DUI Attorneys have learned that 20 year veteran school teacher Suzanne Morrison was arrested and charged with DUI while on her way to school.

Teacher arrested for driving drunk

CHICKASAW, Ala. – Normally you would find students burning off steam at Chickasaw Elementary School’s playground. Not Tuesday, because their physical education teacher, Suzanne Morrison, was arrested Tuesday morning.

“officers on morning patrol observed a vehicle swerve and they pulled the silver car over, and discovered the driver was intoxicated,” said Cpl. Charles Bagsby with the Mobile Police Department.

Police said Suzanne Morrison failed a field sobriety test on I10 near Highway 90 around 8:00 am. Mobile County Public School System Superintendent Dr. Roy Nichols assumes the long-time system employee was on her way to work.

“We know she was arrested this morning for DUI. Don’t know if she’ll be convicted, don’t know if she was on the way to work because she never arrived. We assumed she was,” said Dr. Nichols.

Chickasaw Elementary School’s website said Morrison has been working in the system for 20 years, 19 years at Chickasaw.

Dr. Nichols said all of this comes as quite a surprise.

“No reason to suspect she’s been coming to school under the influence,” said Nichols.

The school system says the physical education teacher was thought of highly, and got good reviews. If convicted, this could leave a permanent mark on that good record. Chickasaw resident Dorothy Wallace said it should.

“I don’t care where or what age she taught. Don’t need someone like that teaching our children. They are already exposed to enough,” said Wallace.

Morrison is being held on $1,000 bond. She has been placed on administrative leave. Dr. Nichols said she is allowed back to work next Tuesday.
